This poem was made to describe Avernus...I was quite board and thought it did quite a good job...
"Until Then..."
A heart will hold you back
Whilst darkness will embrace you
It will instill fear into your body
Doubt into your mind
A heart will terrorize you with emotions *like love*
Darkness will shield you from it
Darkness will embrace you
A heart will eventually come to haunt you
It will make you hate what you were, what you became, and what you are now
Running from your past
And hiding from your fears
It will always be there to torture you.
A heart will only taunt you,
It will never let you be truly happy.
It will give you something that makes your life seem complete *Rune*
Then it will rip it away from you
Leaving you with a hole inside of you
Making you feel empty and lost.
Darkness will fill and mend that hole
Darkness will help you
It will make you stronger.
It will make you smarter.
It will make you immune to emotions...
And it will let you have your revenge
A heart will fail under such strength
It will stop beneath such hatred *which is mine*
It will fall under the darkness
*It will fall under me*
I will conquer the feeling of the heart
I will break it into a thousand pieces
*like it did to me*
I control the darkness
I bend it to my will
*I am the darkness*
I am Avernus
And I vow upon my lost love’s name
I swear to you, Rune
I will find him
And I will avenge your death
Until then,
I will wander the barren earth
Looking for someplace I can live in peace.
Until then,
I Will slaughter all that stand in my way
Until then...
"A Lark's Heart"
Bitter air, biting winds, frozen days, freezing nights
They’re all apart of this lightless life
Sneering faces, harsh voices, cold eyes, colder hearts
No more do they sing the beautiful larks
It is past dawn, day is ending
And the beautiful larks are without hearts as they turn into conniving crows.
Caw, Caw, Call us out
Give us our freedom
Or forever we’ll shout
Our black wings will eclipse the sun
Our beady eyes will watch you
Our evil games not any fun
Our dark ways will haunt you
Our harsh voices will drive you insane
Give us our freedom or die.
The moon is passing, night is gone
The sun is rising, day is here
But...
What is day and night...?
What is day and night without the ability to tell another about the day’s adventure or the night’s secrets?
A paper folded up, with a multitude of creases.
What’s a note with nothing in it?
What’s a note that you can’t give to anyone?
These thoughts are so pressingly dark,
Overwhelming me
Just like what happened with the larks.
I don’t want to be a crow!
I will never be a crow!
I won’t scream an endless caw!
Nor will I watch you!
I won’t eclipse the sun with my blackened wings
And I won’t drown out the one lark that sings.
I won’t!
I shan’t!
I can’t!
The lone lark is my savior.
His presence is my lullaby.
His voice my sanity.
He is the key,
He must live and sing.
Not just for me, but for all.
Oh Lark! Oh Beautiful Lark!
Save me from the forthcoming dark
Save me
Save one
Save all.
Save us from their harsh call.
The moon is coming, night is passing
The sun has risen, day has arrived,
But...
The lark sings no more.
An arrow pierces his heart
He lies, bleeding, dying upon the earthen ground.
I approach him and pick him up
I dislodge the arrow from the lark’s heart...
And turn him into a crow.
His eyes flutter open,
His wings flare and he flies to my shoulder,
My minion upon my shoulder caws.
A smile crosses my mouth
I wasn’t ever meant to be a crow
I was meant to be their leader.
I am their savior, their key,
Their sanity.
